Updated: Jun 6, 2022

The purpose of this advisory is to provide you with the latest update regarding the recent COVID-19 resurges impact across China. The disinfection and quarantine measures have been implemented by local authorities to prevent the spread of COVID-19. To minimize impacts to your business, we remain fully operational with limited Work in Office Ratio and increased work-from-home mode.

We’re closely monitoring the situation and aim to bring you the most up-to-date information so that we can continue to serve our customers’ supply chain needs given the context of the situation.

Highlights:

  • Shanghai office remains closed from 28th Mar until further notice. Some document charges will not apply if they are generated during the lock-down period from 28th Mar to 5th June in Shanghai.

Terminals

Terminals in GCA main ports remain business as usual including vessel operation, yard handling and gate-in & out.

Empty pick-up & return

Some depots in Shanghai remain closed from 28th Mar until further notice. A list of available deports is attached to this advisory for clients arranging empty pick-up and return.

Landside

The overall landside transportation situation is dynamic subject to change. Trucking service for now is still available in China main ports and nearby cities providing the drivers hold negative Nucleic Acid Test (NAT) report requested by local governments. Specifically, we see the efficiency of Maersk trucking service from/to Shanghai will be gradually improved with a downward trend of the new COVID infections in Shanghai. Maersk can provide multi-modal services via barge or rail as alternative solutions for the corridor between Shanghai and nearby cities.

Warehouse

  • Shanghai: Warehouse operations have been partially resumed. Drivers need negative NAT report within 24 hours and the truck temporary pass issued by local government when gating in warehouse.

  • Ningbo: Warehouses keep operations for now. However drivers are requested to show health code. In addition, drivers need negative NAT report within 24 hours if they are from the places outside of Zhejiang province or with * on the itinerary code. Cargo will not be accepted If drivers have been to the medium-high risk area in last 14 days or factory is located in medium-high risk area.

  • Shenzhen, Xiamen and Qingdao: Warehouses keep operations for now. However drivers are requested to show both health code and negative NAT report within 48 hours for cargo delivery.

  • Hong Kong: Distribution Center (HKDC) keeps operations for now. Drivers and helpers need to complete vaccination when they come to HKDC according to the government’s vaccine bubble requirements.

AIR

  • Shanghai: Gateway operations stay normal. We will see air flights will be recovered gradually.

  • Shenzhen & Guangzhou: Operations for existing cargo keep running. We foresee it will take 2-3 weeks longer than usual for the lead time of the inbound airfreight due to the increased volume for now.

  • Hong Kong: Due to the suspension of the trucking service between Hong Kong and Mainland, barge service is taken as an alternative for cargo moving. Airfreight space reservation will not be proceeded until the cargo is delivered to Hong Kong airport warehouse. As a consequence, It will take longer lead time than usual for the airfreight service.

Counter

Given the limited Work in Office Ratio is applied in some cities, we encourage you to refer to China counter contingency plan and adopt self-service online to avoid the business disruption. You are welcome to find the digital counter service through the QR codes via this link.

Shanghai: Office remains closed from 28th Mar until further notice. The document charges shown as below will not apply if they are generated during the lock-down period from 28th Mar to 5th June in Shanghai subject to change.
