Patricks terminals have just announced through Freight & Trade Alliance (FTA) and the Australian Peak Shippers Association (APSA) they will be implementing the Pondus Weighing Solution in Sydney AutoStrad operations from 17th January 2022.
Pondus is an innovative weighing solution that ensures safety in container handling. This is important because mis-declared containers have the potential to create risks throughout the whole supply chain, starting from transport companies to terminal operators and shipping lines.
All containers that are both imported and exported will now be statistically sampled for weighing and if any containers are found to be outside of the 1-tonne tolerance will be charged a Weight Amendment Fee of $230.00 AUD plus GST per container. For mis-declared imported containers transport carriers will be charged, for exported containers, the shipping line will be charged. Carriers should be advised via the VBS of the Pondus weight prior to picking up an import container from the terminal and provided with a link to the weigh certification.
Please note: The Weight Amendment Fee will not apply to importers and exporters who accurately declare container weights in compliance with the SOLAS regime.
